You are a blacksmith, and there is an event in your future that fractures timelines.  The timelines of the future are being conquered, and future versions of yourself reach back in time for help.  You are able to forge weapons that you can pass forward to yourself in the future.  Over time you will be able to gather advanced materials to make a variety of powerful weapons so that your future self can face the growing evil.

This is a rougelite experience, where each playthrough allows you to gain more materials to forge more powerful weapons for your next runs.
